Furniture & Equipment (F & E)
Construction work often includes furniture and equipment (F&E). In some construction contracts specialist fixed F&E might be excluded, in others loose F&E might be included.
In order to define the extent of the objects in the CCS it is necessary to establish a hard and fast rule in relation to F&E. Therefore anything fixed or built in is deemed to be part of the construction. Anything simply placed in position or plugged into a socket is deemed to be Loose F&E and is excluded from the construction complex itself. The CCS does not attempt to classify loose F&E.
Should loose F&E be included in a construction contract, as it occasionally is, this can be accommodated by including in the Special Provisions element as a separate category.
Loose F&E also includes installations that are normally retrofitted.
